VaccinationsTo ensure the health and safety of your dog, and all our doggy guests, we cannot accept a dog without proof of up to date vaccines.
This includes Kennel Cough (KC) and General Maladie vaccinations (Maladie Carré, Adenovirus/Canine hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza; often listed as DHPPi, SHA2PPi or CHPPI on the vaccine sticker) which must have been administered at least 10 days (and within 1 year) prior to arrival. Despite the fact that the kennel cough vaccination is obligatory, some dogs; particularly those with underlying medical issues, those that are older, get stressed away from home or those not used to mixing with other dogs, are at risk to develop the illness in boarding facilities. However, vaccinated dogs tend to get a milder bout and recover quicker, hence we insist all dogs be vaccinated. The kennel cough virus is highly contagious and the vaccine is live for up to 10 days after administration so we cannot accept dogs who have had the kennel cough vaccination administered less than 10 days before arrival. This rule is to protect your dog and all the dogs we look after. Don't hesitate to call us if you have concerns or questions about vaccinations. Please also treat your dog for worms/fleas/ticks a week before arrival - we are surrounded by forest and ticks are prolific. Dogs are checked frequently but prevention is the safest option. |
BehaviourOur aim is a safe, secure environment for all our canine guests. With that in mind, excessive barking, aggression or anti social behavior by any dog cannot be allowed for the comfort of other doggy guests and for the sake of our family life and that of our neighbors.
Owners undertake to declare any history of medical or behaviour problems that could reoccur while boarding and to draw attention to any potential problems, phobias (or vices!) their dogs may have. The more we know about your dog, the more settled we can make them. Being away from home can be stressful for dogs and they may demonstrate unusual or out of character behavior. If, for any reason, we are concerned about your dog's behavior, we will play with and walk him separately to the other boarders. We do not accept female dogs that are in heat or due to go into heat. We also do not accept intact adult males (not castrated). We welcome puppies (over 6 months of age) that can settle at night in their room happily. All dogs must stay overnight at least once before boarding arrangements can be confirmed. We appreciate that leaving your dog in the care of someone else may cause some level of worry for both you and your dog so we feel this is an important step in ensuring that you and your dog are completely happy before a longer booking takes place. It also allows us an opportunity to assess the suitability of your dog to board at Happy Dogs Aigle. The overnight trial can be arranged at your convenience (Monday-Friday) and is charged at usual boarding rates. The trial is from a pre-arranged time in the afternoon until the following morning. If the trial stay does not go well we are always happy to suggest alternative care options to help you find the best solution for your dog. |
In case of illness/injuryWe have a great on call vet facility nearby should the need arise. In an emergency or illness we will contact the owner or his/her nominated contact, and the provision of veterinary treatment will be provided by our veterinary surgery (Roberto Re) in Ollon unless specified otherwise. We reserve the right to seek appropriate veterinary treatment, regardless of costs, unless instructed otherwise by owners upon check in.
Dogs are accepted at their owners’ risk. While every possible care and attention is given to your dog, we cannot be held responsible for any injury or illness arising from their time here. Vet fees incurred during the dogs stay will be covered by the owner. We strongly advise that all dogs be covered by pet insurance. We reserve the right to refuse admission to any dog showing signs of ill health, as well as dogs demonstrating worrying, aggressive, destructive or overly noisy behavior. |
