Happy Birthday to us!

In 2016, we set out to create something different in terms of dog boarding & daycare, something we had wanted for our own dogs but failed to find. Five years on, our original goal is as relevant now as then - to offer the personal touch, comfort and fun of home boarding but in a professionally managed facility with larger capacity.

HDA has gradually developed a strong reputation for taking good care of happy dogs. That simple premise depends - and is built upon - strict entry criteria, an in-depth on-boarding process and a genuine commitment to treat boarding dogs as we care for our own. Our environment suits a particular type of character. Other boarding services suit and serve some dogs better, those that appreciate a more structured routine perhaps, or prefer to spend their time without the company of other dogs. Time, training & experience has given us the ability to assess a new dog's suitability fairly quickly and the confidence to recommend alternatives for those we cannot facilitate. We invest much time and energy in meeting, vetting and settling in new friends. Once dogs arrive, we work hard to create trusting, long  lasting relationships with them, in a secure, safe environment where they feel confident enough to truly be themselves while they stay with us. We delight in seeing our dog pals running in to say hello, thrilled to be back for a holiday with us and their friends.

Over the past 2 years, we have increased our efforts and focus to maintaining as stress free an environment as possible for boarders.
Every new arrival naturally disrupts the status quo and it takes some time for the equilibrium to rebalance. So we do as much as possible to minimise this disruption. We welcome new arrivals in the afternoons rather than during the busy morning rush. We postpone daycare and playdates during weekends and peak periods, We welcome new clients for introductory visits or trial overnights during low season only. While this could seem counter intuitive for a new and growing business, we have seen the positive effect this has on the atmosphere and on the dogs staying, which encourages us to continue and redouble our efforts in this regard.

Whilst reflecting on our journey over the past 5 years, and thinking ahead to the future, it's clear that we are far from the typical boarding model. We will continue to foster and develop our own style, focused on longer stays, personal relationships and regular clients. With that in mind, w
e have changed our pricing model to more accurately reflect the work, investment and commitment involved in our style of service. Instead of the traditional per-day boarding rate, we will offer weekly, fortnightly and monthly packages. Longer stays are incentivized by a lower per-day price. Short stays are priced higher to reflect the workload associated with settling new arrivals in and turning rooms around.

Here are our 2022 boarding rates:

Short Stays (less than 7 days): CHF75/dog/day
Weekly Stays (7-13 days): CHF70/dog/day
Fortnightly Stays (14-30 days): CHF65/dog/day
Monthly Stays (30 days +): CHF60/dog/day.

Two dogs from the same family sharing a room:

Short Stays (less than 7 days): CHF65/dog/day
Weekly Stays (7-13 days): CHF60/dog/day
Fortnightly Stays (14-30 days): CHF55/dog/day
Monthly Stays (30 days +): CHF50/dog/day.

To further cement our commitment to fostering a home-from-home environment for our boarders, we are delighted to introduce the Happy Dogs Aigle Membership Club. For CHF2000 annually, club membership entitles participants to discounted rates on HDA boarding, daycare, retail and events, priority booking during peak periods, no deposit, cancellation or change fees and participation in Benji's Buddies, our new charity scheme, launched to celebrate our 5th birthday,

Benji's Buddies is a dedicated room in the Happy Dogs barn where we give a foster home to a dog with the ultimate goal of helping them to find their forever family. Rescue centres, whilst wonderful in so many ways, can be very stressful environments for many dogs, which makes it hard to see their true personalities. Our hope is that staying in a more family style environment, in the company of friends, will allow foster dogs  to relax and let their true nature shine.
